Helpful Tips For Organizing A Laundry Room

Uncategorized

Your laundry room probably isn’t your favorite place to spend time. Most laundry rooms are cramped and crowded, tucked away in a dark corner or basement. Fortunately, there are ways that you can improve the situation. By using these simple tips for organizing a laundry room, you can transform the area where you do laundry into a space that you love.

1. Keep the products you use most often easily accessible by storing them on shelves near the washer and dryer. At a bare minimum, you probably use laundry detergent and dryer sheets every time you do the laundry. You may also use stain removing products and fabric softener. Gather together the bottles and boxes that you use the most often. Find an area directly next to or above your washer and dryer where you can mount a small shelf to hold these items. That way, you won’t have to dig for them every time you do laundry since they will always be close at hand.

2. Install a rod for hanging clothing. If you have existing shelving in your laundry room, mount a closet rod from the bottom of one of the shelves. If the shelf is too narrow for a closet rod, you can use a bathroom towel bar instead. Once it is in place, you can use it for hanging shirts to keep them from getting wrinkled or so that they have time to air dry.

3. Invest in a divided hamper. Instead of using one large hamper, purchase a sorting hamper that has three or four individual compartments. That way, you can sort your laundry as you take off your clothes instead of having to do all of the sorting on laundry day. If you have a family, teach your kids to put their clothing in the right section. This can make a world of difference in how fast and easy it is to finish your laundry.

4. Consider installing a collapsible wall-mounted folding table. To complete this project, mount a large wooden board on the wall with a set of hinges. Attach a hinged leg to the bottom edge of the board. The leg should fold flat between the board and the wall when it is not in use. To use the table, simply pull it out into a horizontal position and prop it up using the attached leg. When you are done, fold in the leg and lay the tabletop flat against the wall again. This is a great solution for small laundry spaces.

Organizing a laundry room doesn’t have to be a difficult task. A few simple changes can make a big difference in how easy it is for you to do laundry. Cleaning up your space can also make it more enjoyable to spend time there. Along with organizing, you may want to consider adding a fresh coat of paint to brighten up the room so that it feels more inviting. When you have a beautiful laundry room, doing laundry doesn’t feel like quite as much of a chore. That is especially true when everything is neatly organized and tucked away in its proper place.
